Town Beach (Guwarri) Project | WA

Shire of Broome and Josh Byrne & Associates

This project has successfully created an inclusive place that brings together people of all ages, cultures, and abilities. It has used the land and the sea to preserve and build upon the Broome’s rich and complex cultural heritage providing a multi-purpose landscape with a range of recreational opportunities, whilst retaining the picturesque vistas over Roebuck Bay and addressing a substantial environmental threat of the eroding pindan cliffs.

It has transformed the area, enhancing its distinctive sense of place, enriching the appeal of the precinct for tourists, all while maintaining community ownership. It provides thousands of visitors an unparalleled vantage point to view the iconic natural phenomena, ‘Staircase to the Moon,’ and remains a vibrant, well used space for residents.
