PROJECT

Co-designing and Co-creating public places with young people

Recognising that our regional and marginalised communities have an outflow of young people, this project is considered an excellent demonstration of working with youth and placing them at the centre of community and decision making, to build meaningful civic engagement and strive to keep diversity in these communities.

The project sees youth from predominantly Indigenous background at its centre, delivering tangible long-term outcomes through co-design and co-delivery, providing a springboard to ongoing volunteering, community leadership, and ownership of place. The health and wellbeing benefits of an engaged youth cannot be underestimated in the overall health and wellbeing of a community with longer term retention of families, and safe secure places.

This project illustrates how focusing on this part of regional communities can deliver outstanding, and lasting diversity and community wellbeing outcomes.
