Speaker
Ben Hyde
Senior Environmental Engineer, MWA Environmental
Ben Hyde is an environmental engineer specialising in the assessment and management of amenity and health risks at interfaces between industrial and sensitive land uses. Since graduating the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Honours) in 2000, Ben has gained experience in the assessment of noise, air quality and odour emissions from a broad range of industries.
A substantial focus of Ben’s work at MWA Environmental has been informing land use planning decisions in relation to site suitability, separation buffers, emission control systems and ‘built-form’ mitigation solutions. Ben has assessed a diverse range of odour emission sources including sewage treatment plants, poultry farms, fertiliser plants, cattle feedlots, abattoirs, composting facilities and asphalt plants, all the way down to the humble neighbourhood sewage pump station.
The requirement to balance strategic planning goals, health and amenity outcomes and commercial interests has never been more relevant than in the current economic and housing climate
