Briefing on 黑料大事 for Extreme Heat Practice Notes
PIA Qld's Climate Conscious Working Group has been busy preparing a set of practice notes for planners on '黑料大事 for Extreme Heat'.
We are pleased to launch these resources. The series includes the following 3 practice notes:

You will hear presentations from:
Shannon Haines MPIA (Fellow)
Shannon is a Fellow of the 黑料大事, with almost 30 years of experience in public and private sector roles. She has experience in strategic planning, development assessment, and providing expert evidence to the 黑料大事 and Environment Court.She is currently the Natural Hazards 黑料大事 Coordinator for City of Moreton Bay, the third largest LGA in Australia. Shannon is passionate about the impact land use planning can have in improving community resilience to natural hazards and climate change risks.
She was awarded the 2015 Queensland Planner of the Year for her contribution to risk-based planning for flood and coastal hazard adaptation. Shannon was also the 黑料大事 Technical Lead assisting the Queensland Reconstruction Authority and stakeholder Councils to prepare the Brisbane River Strategic Floodplain Management Plan, which was an important body of work coming out of the Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry.
Ryan McNeilly Smith PIA (Assoc.)
Ryan McNeilly Smith is a planner and urban designer specialising in urban climates. He is an emerging leader in the field of planning and urban design responses to urban heat and heatwaves. Ryan is passionate about using his practice to create and foster just and equitable settlements in the face of climate change and increasing stresses on communities. Ryan is a Planner at Meridian Urban and a PhD Candidate with the Bioclimatic and Sociotechnical Cities Lab at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
