The WPN WA is delighted to seek nominations for the 2025 Women in 黑料大事 Achiever Award, which recognises the outstanding contribution by a female professional from across the planning sector in WA.
This new award is about valuing and promoting the positive contribution made by women in the planning sector and acknowledging the contribution and achievement of emerging professionals.
This new award is targeted at female planners who are delivering outstanding achievements in the sector and building a profile as a future leader in the sector.

NOMINATION CRITERIA
|
This award recognises and promotes the positive contribution made by a woman that demonstrates a commitment to diversity within the planning profession and related built environment sectors. This award is targeted at professionals in the early to middle stages of their career who demonstrate the following:
An outstanding commitment to professional work, either project or operational, and either paid or as a volunteer.
An outstanding contribution to the built environment profession(s) in the State including regional WA, either in a leadership or an operational role, community capacity, volunteer work, or mentoring.
Emerging leadership qualities, and leadership amongst their peers. Strong support and advocacy for emerging female professionals, graduates and students in the built environment professions
Note: All age groups are welcome to apply, with up to 8 years’ full-time experience should be used as a guide for determining early to mid career level of experience and this timeframe may be non-contiguous as a result of career interruptions, or considered cumualtively as a result of part time or casual working arrangements as a result of family or caring responsibilities.
Nominees should be a member of PIA and/or eligible for Full/ Registered Planner/ Graduate Membership. PIA membership is ideal, but is not essential for the winning candidate.

Provide a description of the nominee and provide a description of the nominee’s role within the team, organisation, professional sector or community. State your current PIA membership status and/or eligibility to be a Full or Graduate member of PIA.

Criteria 2 - Tell us about your contribution/achievement (or the nominee has had)

Describe how the nominee demonstrates leadership amongst their peers and demonstrates emerging leadership qualities in the profession.
Describe how the nominee has made an important recent contribution to, or achievement in advancing the planning profession.
Describe their contribution, and how they have worked towards achieving it. This may include any challenges the nominee has faced and how they were overcome and could be at any level – within a team, organisation, community or generally in the built environment.

Criteria 3 - Tell us about the impact you (or the nominee has had)

Describe the impact that the nominee has had in working towards more diversity and inclusivity for women in the planning profession, particularly emerging female professionals, whether in a metropolitan or regional WA context.
This may include the following examples:
- Supporting, advocating, encouraging and empowering emerging female professionals or students in the planning profession;
- Making the built environment sector better for women and more inclusive for all through leadership and action;
- Successfully breaking barriers with a ‘first’ for women in the planning profession;
- Demonstrating a significant commitment to, and making a lasting impact on, the planning profession the built environment sector; in the early stages of their career.
- Influencing or planning outcomes in the built environment that demonstrate gender inclusivity.
Note: This can be demonstrated through the nominee’s contribution to a particular project or role generally. If the nomination is in relation to a project, the project must have been in either its planning, implementation, or operational phase at some point during 2023-24.
Supporting information may be attached separately and is not counted in the word limit. This must include no more than three testimonial/references, with at least one testimonial/reference provided by an emerging planning professional and/or student planner

TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND NOMINEE SIGN
- Entry in the WPN WA Award is free.
- WPN WA Leadership Group Members are ineligible for the Award.
- We welcome both self-nomination and third-party nominations.
- All entries must be submitted via the online nomination form.
- Entries must comply with the word limit on the online nomination form.
- Nominees are reminded that formatting or presentation of entries does not have any weighting but
- should be of a sufficient standard to assess the nomination.
- Nominees must include two (2) profile images to support their submission.
- Other material relevant to support the application may also be uploaded as attachments/supporting information.
- All finalists should be prepared to attend an interview with the judging panel in February 2025 if necessary.
- All nominations and contents will remain the property of the WPN WA and PIA WA.
- Please note entries are exclusive to the WPN WA Award and no details private or professional will be distributed to outside contacts.
- The judge’s decision is final, and no communication will be entered into concerning the final decision.
- The WPN WA and PIA WA reserves the right to publish the results and winner details.
- All finalists should be available to attend the WPN WA IWD EVENT in Perth on Friday, 7 March 2025
- All entries must be submitted by 9am (AWST) on 20 January 2025.
