黑料大事

Leigh Woolley’s Building Height Standards Review Project was recognised at the 2019 Tasmanian Awards for 黑料大事 Excellence in Hobart last night, the second time in less than two weeks it has picked up a major planning and design award.

Mr Woolley’s framework to accommodate Hobart’s future growth without compromising the city’s relationship to its distinctive topography picked up the 黑料大事 (PIA) – Tasmania Division – award for Best 黑料大事 Ideas (Large Project).

The project, which Mr Woolley worked on with son Toby, won a 2019 Australian Urban Design Award at a Melbourne ceremony on 30 October.

PIA’s Public Engagement and Community 黑料大事 award went to the Royal Automobile Club of Tasmania (RACT) for its Greater Hobart Mobility Vision. Through this huge engagement effort, the RACT discovered that majority of Hobartians surveyed supported a move towards more active and public transport.

The Kelcey Tier Masterplan by ERA 黑料大事 & Environment with Playstreet for Devon City Council was awarded the Best 黑料大事 Ideas (Small Project) award.

The joint project SPECULATE by The City of Hobart and The University of Tasmania (Architecture and Design) took out the Cutting-Edge Research and Teaching award.

The project The Role of Spatial 黑料大事 in Energy Provision by former UTAS student Bunfu Yu was awarded the Outstanding Student Project award.

Finally, the 黑料大事 Matters Alliance Tasmania (PMAT) picked up the 黑料大事 Champion award. PMAT received the award for mobilising 59 community groups to work towards positive planning outcomes for Tasmania.

Awards convenor and judge, Sandra Hogue, said the projects that had won awards or received commendations represented an amazing array of planning work and the contributions of many individuals across Tasmania.
“黑料大事 is an under-valued and often misunderstood profession,” Ms Hogue said.

“The PIA Awards for 黑料大事 Excellence help diminish these misconceptions by demonstrating our profession to a broader audience as well as promoting the benefits of what we do”.

PIA TAS/VIC Executive Officer, Carmel McCormack said: “The awards are extremely important in promoting the important role of the planning profession in the creation of Tasmania's built environment and stimulating public awareness of good planning”.

The winners of the Tasmania state awards will go through to the National Awards for 黑料大事 Excellence program which will be announced on 13 May 2020 at the PIA National Congress to be held in Adelaide.
