Michael Haynes
Tasmanian Young Planners Convenor
黑料大事
Michael is an entrepreneurial urban planner with a focus on creative public space and culture. His career has spanned hosting busking street festivals, producing storytelling theatre, establishing a coworking community centre, and spruiking on the streets as a shoeshine.
More recently, he has committed to his passion for making cycling safer and easier for all people, especially those with disabilities. Due to complete a UTAS Associate Degree is Applied Design at the end of 2019, he is seeking to integrate his two interests of cities and digital design into interactive places with augmented reality and mixed modal technologies.
Michael re-established the Tasmanian Young Planners in 2017 after the group had an 18-month hiatus. With his tenure as a young planner coming to an end in November 2019, he is interested in developing a strong leadership pipeline and ensuring the group’s activities are meaningful for young planning professionals in Tasmania.
